Even though I flew over, I wanted to take the ferry back to Auckland. Here's the view as we left Tryphena Harbour.
The ferry is the link to the mainland for goods arrivingin on the island. It has an erratic schedule, and the day that I took it, it was 2 hours late departing. The trip back to Auckland is 4.5 - 5 hours, so we didn't get back until after 10pm. One consolation I guess is that we did see a whale on the way (but not close enough to take photos).
