The Den

Great Barrier Lodge is a wonderfully picturesque and cozy guesthouse on Great Barrier Island, off the coast of New Zealand's North Island east of Auckland.  It's owned by Tony Christiansen, a good friend of my New Zealand family. I stayed there for a couple days in Dec. 2006 and it and the island were among the highlights of my trip.

Hi everyone! I just got back from a nearly month-long trip to the North Island of New Zealand.
For those who may not know, I was an exchange student there for a year in 1984, and have been back several times. Unfortunately the most recent visit was 11 years ago on my round-the-world backpacking trip.
